[THIN] Re: Printers in Active Directory

If you import the printer servers, how will the users be able to select a
default printer (as stay default each time they login)? How do I determine
which user get which set of printers when there are 2000 users? Or 30,000?
Sometimes self-service is the best solution.

Joe

Yes, users would be able to search AD for printers. Assuming the
following:

1. They have a client that is Windows 2000 or greater (unless you
have the DSClient installed)
2. You have not configured a GPO that would restrict Printer
Searches

But, why do you not import the print servers (Windows print servers
supported only), and then assign users or groups so they are
automatically created for their ICA session? This is a much easier
approach.

Chris

        Question regarding AD printers....

We publish a full desktop with PNA.

Today we have 40 printers that everyone has access and gets assigned
too via the printer config in cmc.

When we move to active directory, is it possible for users to search
and find for specific printers they want added to their profile, and
that would be retained in their profile instead of having 40 printers
for each user?

WHat is the basic high-level setup for this? ie, don't assign
printers via cmc, just have uses search and add?

        Am I making sense?

        Thanks.
