thank you for your help, but I don't think either of these solutions help.

I do not let users add their own drivers to the citrix servers, we have a
limited number of model printers, I manually add each print drivers to the
server as it is needed.

I check the permissions on the folder you listed in your second idea, the
permissions are set the same on both my citrix servers, and I'm only seeing
the problem on one of them.

thank you
jb

Hi Jason,

Two possible issues:

1. users have to be able to install printer drivers. If access permissions
or group policy prevents this, the drivers won't load and printing won't
happen.

2. Before a unidrv-based printer driver can be used, the printer description
file (*.gpd) has to be compiled into a binary file (*.bud). To do this users
need write access to the system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 directory.

regards,

Rick

I installed citrix XP SP3/FR3 (windows 2000 SP4)fresh on a server a few
weeks ago. I only started to let users test it this week, I've been running
into a printing issue I've never seen before. The user can add the printer
fine and it is listed under the prints in the control panel.
But when they try to print to it they get the error:

Current printer is unavailable. Then it pops up a list of your installed
printers. This printer is working fine. It has to do with one of my citrix
servers, the other one is fine. I've seen it happen on 3 different printers.

Thanks,jb
