I believe that's because control.exe is just a vehicle to launch the printers and faxes "explorer.exe" view. Once launched, control.exe actually unloads, so this is what I think is triggering the closing using Warrens apps. I think that the issue is more related to some handle holding explorer.exe open. Don't have anything available to test this theory on. If you publish Explorer.exe "normally" to open a drive, does it close okay? Cheers, Jeremy. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of StGeorge Sent: Friday, August 07, 2009 2:44 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Printer Woes Thanks again Warren, same issue application launches and immediately closes. Just to re-iterate for any new viewers out there, using 'control.exe printers' in the published app works ok but does not close Regards Rob On 8/7/09, Warren Simondson <caditc@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > have you tried TSRunLogoff.exe also from Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy > > TSRunLogoff.exe "control.exe printers" "logoff.exe" > > This will run the print manager and then when you close it, it will close > all processes and logoff. > > > > -- > Warren Simondson > > Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy Pty Ltd > > Website: http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au > > > > > > > > > On Fri, Aug 7th, 2009 at 4:06 PM, StGeorge <wcsconnect@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >> Hello Warren, >> Both the options launch the app and then immediately closes, logging >> out >> correctly >> Regards >> Rob >> >> On Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 1:56 PM, Warren Simondson <caditc@xxxxxxxxxx> >> wrote: >> >> > have you tried: >> > >> > tskaasplat.exe "C:\windows\explorer.exe" >> > ::{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D} * >> > or >> > >> > tskaasplat.exe "control.exe printers" * >> > >> > -- >> > Warren Simondson >> > >> > Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy Pty Ltd >> > >> > Website: http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > On Fri, Aug 7th, 2009 at 3:47 PM, StGeorge <wcsconnect@xxxxxxxxx> >> wrote: >> > >> > > Nice Try Warren [?] >> > > I followed the specific 2008 section, and have now tried the bit >> that >> > > you >> > > mention and it provides the same failure - the application does >> not >> > > close >> > > correctly, leaving 4 items running. >> > > dwm.exe >> > > explorer.exe >> > > taskeng.exe >> > > wfshell.exe >> > > Regards >> > > Rob >> > > >> > > On Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 1:30 PM, Warren Simondson >> <caditc@xxxxxxxxxx> >> > > wrote: >> > > >> > > > Have you tried publishing : >> > > > >> > > > C:\windows\explorer.exe" >> ::{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D} >> > > > >> > > > I've used this one since I started using citrix many. mnay >> years >> > > ago. >> > > > >> > > > See this citrix article for the official blurb: >> > > > >> > > > http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX884335 >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > -- >> > > > Warren Simondson >> > > > >> > > > Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy Pty Ltd >> > > > >> > > > Website: http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> > > > On Fri, Aug 7th, 2009 at 2:39 PM, StGeorge >> <wcsconnect@xxxxxxxxx> >> > > wrote: >> > > > >> > > > > Hello from Sunny Perth, >> > > > > >> > > > > We are trying to publish Print manager on Windows 2008 64 ( >> > > published >> > > > > apps >> > > > > only). >> > > > > We can publish using 'control.exe printers' and it works a >> dream >> > > > > except it >> > > > > does not close... >> > > > > I have tried using TSKaasplat and launchit with various >> > > combinations >> > > > > of >> > > > > scripts, mostly they launch and close immeditately. >> > > > > The closest I came was using TSKaasplat with batch/command >> to >> > > Start >> > > > > /wait >> > > > > control.exe printers but this left a dos window asking for a >> Y/N >> > > > > I have tried the Dabb printer utility but it does not work on >> the >> > > fly >> > > > > like >> > > > > the standard version. >> > > > > >> > > > > Has anybody successfully published printmanager in 2008/64 or >> are >> > > you >> > > > > able >> > > > > to provide other options?
