In Windows 2000 you can set the recovery options in the Services applet for the Print spooler Service to automatically restart when it crashes. You can also instruct it to run a program which can be your batch script to restart it if it does it on subsequent times. What you want to do is stop the spooler and clear out the jobs in the printers folder and restart it...like the script at the bottom of http://thethin.net/print.cfm Regards, Jim Kenzig http://thethin.net -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Jonathan Neffgen Sent: Friday, January 24, 2003 9:56 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Print Spooler Stopping Windows 2000 Server SP3 running Citrix Metaframe 1.8 SP3. We are are great advocates of using Citrix to pick up client printers and this function is really useful to us. Recently one user had a problem whereby their client printer was not getting picked up automatically, we figured this was because the driver was non-standard (Ricoh multifunction) and needed to be installed on the server. We did so and this appeared to fix the problem, HOWEVER since doing this the Print Spooler service on the server stops every so often. It doesn't start back up automatically nor do we know why this is happening. It's pretty frustrating as we are having to use a batch script to manually restart the Printer Spooler every few hours. I've searched for this problem on the web and from what I can tell, this is a known issue without a known solution! Any ideas what's causing the problem and how to solve it?
