FYI, DRIVER FREE PRINTING!!! JK CeBIT 2006, Hall 3, C31: Control print cost and reduce administrative overhead The new version 7.0 of the print management solution, ThinPrint .print, enables analysis of print behavior in a network and boasts innovative features that minimize administrative overhead (Berlin/Hanover, March 2006) To reduce the cost of printing, companies need information about print behavior in their networks. According to the IDC market research institute, however, only 28% of all businesses are able to quantify the number of pages printed each month by their employees. Help is found in the latest version of the ThinPrint .print print management system, which the manufacturer, ThinPrint, will be unveiling at the CeBIT in Hall 3, Stand C31. The new version of the software, the leading solution for printing in distributed networks, enables print job tracking for analysis of print behavior in a network. It therefore forms a base for cutting printing costs. Features like the Dynamic Printer Matrix, DRIVER FREE NATIVE PRINTING, and other innovations bring relief for the network and minimize administrative overhead. The new version 7.0 will be available at the end of April 2006. .print Tracking Service The .print Tracking Service enables analysis of print behavior; e.g., regarding individual users or user groups, printers, paper formats, and other criteria. The data is collected and displayed graphically with a web component. This provides starting points for planning printer resources, for cutting costs, and for possible optimization of the printer infrastructure. It would thus be possible for example, to distribute the load evenly between different printer models to prevent excessive wear on individual devices and to control the use of models with especially expensive consumables effectively. Dynamic Printer Matrix The new administration tool, Dynamic Printer Matrix, makes it easier for administrators to provide users with adequate print functionality, completely regardless of where the users are, what connection they have, or what hardware they use. Administrators can assign printers optionally by IP range, by client name, by driver, printer, or printer class name, or by client type. The specific printer is mapped automatically; i.e., it is offered to the user as possible print device. At the same time, it is not only ensured that the correct printer driver is available; it is also ensured that the respectively best transfer protocol and the optimal bandwidth limit are used. DRIVER FREE NATIVE PRINTING In the new version 7.0, ThinPrint?s DRIVER FREE PRINTING, used for simplifying administration, can now also be used in connection with thin clients and print boxes. The native printer drivers are deployed centrally on a dedicated print server, where print jobs are processed. System administration is further simplified by the transfer of server configuration with the Microsoft Management Console and automatic printer share mapping. The ThinPrint DRIVER FREE PRINTING technology in version 7.0 is certified by Microsoft. That makes rollout of the solution in, for instance, large environments much simpler. "ThinPrint .print has for many years been the leading print management solution for distributed environments, because it is the only complete platform that covers almost every aspect of printing,? explains Carsten Mickeleit, Managing Director at ThinPrint GmbH. "With this new version, we have made the gap between us and the competition even greater." The new version 7.0 of .print Engine will be available at the end of April from more than 500 renowned channel partners in more than 80 countries worldwide.
