OK, but why not just upgrade the 4.0 servers in that case?

Mixing 4.0 and 4.5 is not a problem provided the datastore, data collector,
and license server are running 4.5.

If you install 4.5, the first to be installed should be the DC's and
DataStore.

Isn't there some risk of corrupting the 4.0 data store if you do things

technically, you can. but take that with a grain of salt. If you have
trouble, the first thing you're gonna hear is that it is not a good idea.
That said, people have done it and the world didn't explode.

We have an existing all 32 bit 4.0 farm. We are adding a new application
and have new 64 bit servers w/lots of memory & processors that we are
installing Citrix on. If we went with 4.5 then would we need to set up a
separate farm? I remember that being true for XP and earlier but don't know
if it applies to PM 4.0. I suppose we could upgrade the 4.0 farm but we
weren't planning on that.

George,

The short answer is that you must use different media.

The longer answer is that Citrix has End-of-life 64 bit PS4.0. I believe
you can still download the installation media from mycitrix but you must
go to some obscure ftp site for the hotfixes.

If possible, avoid starting a new project with 64 bit 4.0.

Does the Presentation Server 4.0 media I've been using to install on 32
bit
Windows 2003 OS servers install on a Windows 2003 64 bit OS or is there
different media I need to download?
