It is hit or miss with the CCS guys, they all seem very bright and experienced but I think they tend to get a bit of tunnel vision based on certain projects they have done. My experience has taught me that every single environment is different and there are so many factors that go into such decisions that you have to re-visit it anew each time. Unless someone told me outright that 32 and 64bit PS doesn't work together I would do it if the requirements dictated. It was designed to do that. The whole point of the PS architecture is that they communicate via ICA and IMA and the exact underlying OS is not a big factor in farm communications, more so on the application/user level. We didn't notice any ill effects from it. not that I was all that impressed with their work. They were a colossal waste of money on that project. We are adding a new application and have new 64 bit servers w/lots of memory & processors that we are installing Citrix on. If we went with 4.5 then would we need to set up a separate farm? I remember that being true for XP and earlier but don't know if it applies to PM 4.0. I suppose we could upgrade the 4.0 farm but we weren't planning on that. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Raffensberger, Stephen D Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:50 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Presentation Server 4.0 question George, The short answer is that you must use different media. The longer answer is that Citrix has End-of-life 64 bit PS4.0. I believe you can still download the installation media from mycitrix but you must go to some obscure ftp site for the hotfixes. If possible, avoid starting a new project with 64 bit 4.0.
