Hello,

We are implementing W2K TS (SP2) and MF XP FR2. We just started testing the
different client platforms. In our organisation we're currently using the
following client platforms:
- DOS client 4.21.785 (disk cache disabled)
- Thin client 6.00.923/919 (Compaq T1010/T1000)
- Fat client 6.30.1050

Comparing the performance between the different client platforms didn't show
any major differences, but...

When we start a published application within the published desktop session
then there is a difference in performance between the different platforms.
On de the fat-client the performance is still acceptable. On the DOS-client
the performance (when displaying a published application) is decreasing but
is still acceptable. Finally the Thin Client performance is decreasing when
displaying a published application from a secondary silo. Especially when
switching between applications performance degradation is visible. (For
example: Excel (when running from a secondary silo) takes about 500ms to be
displayed (block by block)).

We activated the bitmap caching functionality on all the sessions to
secondary silos. The caching directory is set to '%UserProfile%\Local
Settings\Temp' because the default location ('%UserProfile%\Application
Data\ICAClient\Cache') isn't used because of folder-redirection of the
appdata shellfolder.

Any idea about how to solve this problem? Are there any other parameters we
can set to optimise the performance?

Kind regards,

Bart van Bokhoven
