Good question. I don't know, but I doubt it. Just do a file comparison.
Have a look at the bottom of the KB article for PSE400R01W2K3053. It'll
tell you what files are being updated. Just compare the size dat and time
to what you've currently got to confirm if they are actually being
replaced.

Maybe it's as simple as a curruption with your local host cache. Use
dsmaint to recreate it.

You can create a log of the MSI install like this, but chances are, as Rick
says, I'll log that it had been successful.

msiexec /p "S:\CitrixPS4\Hotfixes\PSE400R01W2k3027.msp" /qb- /Lv*
%SystemDrive%\PSE400R01W2k3027.log REBOOT=ReallySuppress

Have you got Memory Optimization turned on? This is the biggest problem.

Cheers.

Hi Rick,

thanks for information. It sounds important.
I was instaling hotfix after restart and checkdisk with antivirus disabled,
unfortunately with no luck.
Is there some hotfix's installation log, where I can found whats going
wrong ?

Hi Ivo,

The Citrix patch process is unreliable.

When you get the installer patch (*.msp), it includes and runs cpatch.exe
which does most of the file replacements and there are often some scripts
to do registry patching etc. Cpatch won't replace busy files but the
windows installer shows the hotfix as successfully installed, and the only
"error" is an informational message in the event log saying the a file was
busy and wasn't replaced.

Since there are well documented mechanisms available for replacing busy
files, that work just fine, I'd better not say what I think about cpatch.

Unless you reboot the server before applying a PS3/4 hotfix or make sure
that all the Citrix-related services are stopped first you have no
guarantee that the hotfix will have installed properly.

The hotfixes you've got are probably fine, you just need to install them
after a reboot.

Rick

issues.
However, im not using an Access DataStore.

Have you got a test server ?

I can send you:

PSE400R01W2k3006 (original version of the handle fix)
or
PSE400R01W2k3030 (2nd update) if you want to test those.

I have these hotfixes installed:
PSE400R01W2k3007
PSE400R01W2k3026
PSE400W2k3R01

Yes, there events in Application log that some files was held and installer
has initiated system restart.
There is also event that HotFix was sucessfully installed.

After restart HotFix was visible under Add/Remove programs in Control
panel, but was NOT visible in CMC.

What existing hotfixes have you got installed ?

Anything in the event log to indicate whether all your files got replaced ?

I'm using Access datastore on one server in farm.
I tried dsmaint, but it did not help.
Uninstalling hotfix then Chfarm and rejoining farm resolved IMA startup
problem.

But I want this hotfix installed, because users are facing "Invalid menu
handle" problem and I hope that this will help.

try using dsmanint to restablish your connection to the datastore. What
are you using for the datastore?
