yes, they are both simply web components.

So license or web interface can be installed on a server not even in the farm?

Bob - digging into this a little more and you say below that you
like to have your license server separate. What are all of the
components that can be separate and which need to stay on the
Citrix server(s)?

You should already have an idea of whether 3 servers are
sufficient for your peak concurrent connection time periods. There's no "rule of thumb" here, it's totally dependent on
hardware resources versus appload, and every app is different.

You do not need the web interface. It is cool and has some nice
features, but if all your users are on the LAN/WAN... not required.

No prob having your licensing on the Citrix box. I prefer to have
it separate, because I like being able to lose any given App
Server without affecting the farm operations. So... if you have
another place to put it, it's a good idea architecturally, but
certainly not necessary. There are no significant load problems
or any inherent restraint or incompatibility.

If all you need is load balancing, buy Standard, not Enterprise. Lots of nice features in Enterprise, but they do cost. Also,
unlike TSCALs, you need only purchase a sufficient number of
Client licenses to cover max concurrent user levels. So... if you
only have 100 users at any one time... you only need 100 client
licenses. (add your normal fat, tho)

    goodluck,
    Bob

Greetings all. We are looking at implementing a Presentation
Server 4.0 farm from scratch, new, never used it. We've always
used RDP but there are some features that Citrix offers that we'd
like to make use of. User base is about 400-500 but just one site,
no remote sites.
We are thinking of a three server farm with load balancing. We
have a variety of applications that range from home-grown to
Office apps.
I'd also like to get some input on if it's ok for the license
server to be on one of the Citrix boxes itself or should it reside
elsewhere. Same question for the web interface and can you still
publish applications without the use of the web interface?

Sorry for all the questions.
