More security for print data
The new version 6.2 of the print management solution ThinPrint .print sets new
standards for security in printing
(Berlin, April 2005) Print data is something of a grey area in IT security. At
the same time, it contains information literally in clear text. Unencrypted
print data is therefore often a gap in any security concept. The print
management experts at ThinPrint have introduced a new version to the market
that closes that gap.
ThinPrint was not content with just including 128-bit SSL encryption in .print
Engine 6.2, though. Just as important as encryption of print data transmissions
? particularly in ever more dynamic access scenarios ? is the assurance that
print data is only sent to trusted recipients. This is guaranteed by the
implementation of certificate management. If this option is enabled, the print
server requests an appropriate certificate from the client and authenticates
the certificate before sending the print data.
The broad ThinPrint product palette offers this new version for Microsoft
Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame, but also for classic WAN environments,
web applications, and mobile platforms.
