Hi,

Had a customer with Citrix PS4 who wanted to do PDA synchronisation, only
problem being that the PDAs were Blackberrys and Palms, and we had to use
USB cradles.

While CPS4 supports ActiveSync PDA synchronisation by the ICA client
hooking into an Activesync component on the client machine, USB port
redirection for stuff like Palms and Blackberrys isn't supported, and I was
adviced that the project to make that happen has been shelved.

I tried USB-IT from Provision Networks because it claims to support Palms
and Blackberrys.

Installation consists of a server component that creates a virtual USB hub
on the server, and a client component that redirects USB comms through
either an RDP or ICA virtual channel to the server.

It not only worked as advertised, but it's also a very elegant piece of
software. Package size is less than a MB at the server end, a bit over a MB
on the client side. No client side post install configuration is necessary.

Everything I plugged into a client was seen in the client session on the
server. However, the server has configurable filtering that let's you
specify what USB devices are supported via the client session.

So while the default support is for Palm and Blackberry, it looks like
almost any USB device could technically be supported (with availability of
appropriate USB device drivers).

regards,

Rick
