From what I remember, Outlook 98 (perhaps even later versions of outlook)
tend to save a lot of the registry settings on exit (can make it a real pain
to attempt to find out which reg value does what :-().

Dunno whether this accounts for some or all of your delay, but could be
relevant. There's not many apps (that I'm aware of) that behave like that.
