What version of the Universal Installer are you using? CLI Switches?
Anything in the response file?

You shouldn't need to do this with the Oracle 9i or 10i installer. I run
these all day long as SMS packages and I have never seen the setup.exe exit
before the entire installation is finished.

What you need is a vbscript that checks for a known running process before
it continues. Have an exmaple I can send you off list if required.

all setup does is launch java which is what is running the installer. it is
a clunky process. Are you on enterprise edition? You might have some luck
making a package there. I have also found the 9i client wants some extra
permissions on some dll files for it to work right.

I've got the Oracle 9.2.0.1 client to install silently with a custom
response file. The problem I am having is setup.exe is spawning a new
process and setup.exe end. This issue is when this is executed in a script,
the script will continue on while the client is installing in the
background. I would like the script to wait until the install is finish
before continuing? Any ideas? I've tried the -SMS switch and also
launching setup.exe with "Start /wait" with no luck. For now, I have a
sleep command in the script... But that is a clumsy work around.

The Universal Installer is v2.2.

Thanks,

Joe
