Hi David,

Sorry, sent that off without finishing the answers.

If you patch the office xp administrative install with SP1 and SP2, you can
install Office XP patched at the SP2 level.

regards,

Rick

Subject: [THIN] Office XP and Installation Manager

I've got a strange problem that hopefully someone can help me with.

I have created a package group for Office XP to be installed via
Installation Manager. I ran an administrative install and created an MST
because I don't want Outlook to install (we're a GroupWise shop) and created
a package in IM to install Office using the MST. When the install runs, it
still installs Outlook even though I told the MST not to. Any ideas on this
one?

The other problem I have is with the package group itself. I downloaded
Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 MSPs from Microsoft and put them together
with the main installation in a package group. When I install the package
group, I get a failure on Service Pack 1:

Installation failed.
Fatal error during installation.
MsiApplyPatch(\\SERVER\Software\OfficeXP.SP1\MAINSP1_Admin.msp, 0,
INSTALLTYPE_DEFAULT, REBOOT=ReallySuppress)

The main Office XP application returns success and Service Pack 2 returns
success. The major concern (besides the obvious fatal installation message)
is that the Office service packs are not cumulative -- so I'm inclined not
to trust the installation.

Thanks!
-- Dave
