The maximum number of files per NTFS volume is 4,294,967,295 - these could
all be in one folder in theory.

Past experience has shown that when you browse a folder windows will read a
couple of k of each file to retrieve the file details (icon etc) - so too
many files in a folder will seem to grind this to a halt, especially over a
network.

Anyone know how many files you can have in a single folder before Windows
goes bellyup?
