The maximum number of files per NTFS volume is 4,294,967,295 - these could all be in one folder in theory. Past experience has shown that when you browse a folder windows will read a couple of k of each file to retrieve the file details (icon etc) - so too many files in a folder will seem to grind this to a halt, especially over a network. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Adam.Baum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 17 November 2005 20:51 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] OT - w2k3 file limits Anyone know how many files you can have in a single folder before Windows goes bellyup? adam ************************************************ For Archives, RSS, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: //www.freelists.org/list/thin ************************************************ ************************************************ For Archives, RSS, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: //www.freelists.org/list/thin ************************************************
