I'd be interested on any comments regarding using a resource intensive
application like JD Edwards OneWorld in a vmware environment using ESX
WITHOUT the SMP product.

Let me suggest something. We have customers running TScale inside of VMWare
partitions. Guess what happens when you do this? TScale gives you back the
performance that VMWare cost you and then some.

Sure as long as the hardware is under utilized right? When there are
hardware resources available esx makes perfect sense. Nnow GSX or virtual
server the answer is not cut and dry sine they have a higher performance
over head (20-30%)

Ron,

Great write-up. I was just playing with MS Virtual PC (a toy) this week so
it is good timing as well.

I would assume ESX would have a place at a small/midsized ASP to deploy
virtual servers per customer -- reducing underutilized hardware while
increasing redundancy. Sound reasonable?

Tim

OK. I will do this in small chunks and try not to put out info that is under
NDA.
