Yeah this is pretty funny. And I think I can give you an answer.

Let's assume you had a product that you couldn't sell like a product.
Because it has not went through the testing etc of your other products.
Also assume it's really a fancy script that someone else could do if
they really wanted to.

Now you have this "product" that is really services to install and
configure it (2 weeks generally). Would you rather sell it once and have
it duplicated a 100 times or keep it secret, not sell it, and charge for
the services to get you consulting services to increase revenues...
