-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 We have MRC, but if we promote the server to a PDC, then we have a problem. We cannot have it connected to the network, and adding ACLs on the router will cause additional problems (i.e. having the necessary people in to make the modifications and to remove them). But, the servers we want to run this program on are across the country, and we would have to either fly out there, or give the local IT rights to do this. I don't feel comfortable in giving the local IT rights to do this, and I don't think the my company will pay for the flights to these locations. Thanks for the idea, and I will present that as an option. Hmmm.. Maybe I would have taken the system off the network, promoted it to PDC, deleted the groups, and then ran UPROMOTE. - - -----Original Message----- From: Jim Kenzig [mailto:jimkenz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx]=3D20 Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2002 1:47 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Unable to delete local groups after UPROMOTE You probably should of deleted the groups BEFORE You demoted it. Can you promote it again..delete the groups and then demote it again? After running UPROMOTE on a BDC, it will successfully "demote" the server down to a member server. After rejoining the domain is also successful. We can access data just fine, without issues. However, the problem we are running into is that we cannot delete the local groups that were converted from Domain Local Groups on the BDC to local groups on the member server. We can delete any and all users, but not the groups. We get the following error message: The specified account name is not a member of the local group. This happens when we try to delete a local group. Does anyone know of a tool (resource kit or 3rd party) that will "force" a delete of the object outright?
