I can't speak directly to your question regarding compression, however, we do have it running on our Novell servers here and quite often it will cause server utilization to shoot to 100% for no apparent reason. I am not directly responsible for it, so I don't know what fixes have been found as it doesn't seem to happen as often as it was. I really like the NT product for the capabilities it has provided for us, but the Novell product seems to leave a bit to be desired still. I don't believe we use compression on our Novell servers either... Sorry I can't be of more assistance that this. I am asking this group because of the apparent love for Trend Micro Server Protect. What does anyone know about their Novell NetWare product? I am specifically interested in it's impact on the compression of files. We are having a problem with drive space when we manually scan for viruses on our NetWare 4.11 servers and the files getting uncompressed and not re-compressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Email me offline if you want further details of our setup.
