Do you really need 72gigs of database storage? That's mondo storage
capacity. You might want to look at mirrored drives (with an admitted
slight performance loss)and save 15% on the cost of your server. Unless
your running a seriously large database you should be fine without the
raid 5 and raid 1 is statistically a safer bet on drive failures. Of
course with Raid 1 it will be harder to add space in the future if
growth is a heavy concern.

Depending on the level of file serving I'd do it on your DC or
investigate NAS/SAN. Definately want a separate DB server reguardless.

Hello
Yesterday's thread on the Dell servers was interesting and insightful.
We are in the process of getting quotes for three more servers. One to
do File Serving, another to be a DC for a w2k domain, and another to be
our Oracle server. We were going with Dual Processor 1.6mzh with 2Gig
RAM, 3-36g 15k Hard drives with a RAID-5 controller. Is this overkill?
Thanks Mario=20
