I used to be the techie in a school division in Manitoba....over 800
students, as well as the 100 or so staff...but not 800 PC's.

4000 users (students, staff, central office and support staff) 5 IT people.
800:1
In addition, the division runs about 200 miles east to west and 90 miles
north to south. So, I feel your pain but not too much :-)

9 staff in total here (inc helpdesk, desktop support, networks and managers)
to support 3500 users. Thats about 389:1 Can anyone beat that?

And they are still arguing about whether or not we need to do a full thin
client rollout!

Ahh, ok, that makes more sense. Still pretty good size for 2000 people.
We've got 12 people between Tech Services (support/system/network admin) and
MIS (development including websites). Probably 500 or so people in the
corporation and we'd only add another 2-3 staff over the time it takes to
grow to 1000 people in the corp.

That's all of our IT, including the software weenies, switch sluts, dbas,
etc. I only have 8 techs to take care of the 2000 users and PCs, so we're
running 1:250 for direct support.
