Chris - is the RAID BIOS getting that configuration from the drives thus
accepting into BIOS?  If so, then it sounds like my plan will work as
well it worked for you.

I've done similar before on Dell PERC cards, even between different
servers (with identical configurations).  When you swap drives, at the
RAID POST it'll prompt to to accept the new configuration, and it'll
move along just fine after that.  Never caused a problem for me at
least.
