Great thanks very much for your help. -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Lambert [mailto:rlambert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: July 28, 2003 2:21 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Pop3 Access Yes we do. Never had a problem. But that's Exchange. However, I know several people who use Notes POP3 with no problems. -----Original Message----- From: Jonathan Kadoo [mailto:jkadoo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 2:22 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Pop3 Access I agree with you on the Notes. That's why I have my own exchange server. Do you allow pop3 to your internal network? That is where the user's mail file resides, on my Notes server on the internal network. -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Lambert [mailto:rlambert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: July 28, 2003 2:02 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Pop3 Access I don't see why there would be any security risk for it, unless there's a vulnerability for your particular version of Notes Pop3. I don't use Notes... mainly because I don't like anything about it... but I don't see any problem with pop3 access. Just make sure they save a copy of messages on the server, otherwise they'll come into work and freak out. -----Original Message----- From: Jonathan Kadoo [mailto:jkadoo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 1:46 PM To: THIN@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] OT: Pop3 Access Sorry for the off topic but I am not getting any good answers on my other mailing lists. We have a internal Lotus Notes mail server. I have a few users that want me to open up POP3 access to it. My question is what are my security risks in doing this? How are others handling this situation? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jonathan
