If you highlight multiple contacts in the list view (sortable by all
fields), you can then click the "New Message to Contact" button on the
standard toolbar and it will open a blank message addressed to all.
This is not an option on the right-click menu, or in the "New" drop down
list but the button on the toolbar does the job.

Here is one way.
Set up "categories" for the contacts. Go to contacts, and select a view
for the contacts that sorts by category. Select a category, and then
use the "mail merge" feature. It puts you in word to make the email
message, which will be sent to everyone in the category. This is OK for
something like a fixed mailing list (and emails are sent individually so
they don't see each
other) but a pain in the a$$ otherwise.
