Cool thanks. I'm taking a pretty basic Linux Security course right now. But after playing (stumbling) around with Linux without formal training and some Unix courses many years ago I'm really excited about the prospects. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Cook [mailto:mc@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 7:24 AM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Linux We used to use RedHat 6.0 or 7.2 I seem to recall (so a little while ago) on around 60 machines with what was the latest ICA client to (MF 1.8 and then XPe on 2k servers) at the time on some real old Dell machines and it worked a treat; actually got better results display wise than using the DOS client and someone even played with audio mapping with good results. The only issue we had was the client would try to do seamless sometimes or ALT-TAB would stop occasionally but otherwise it worked fantastically well. Would definitely recommend over a DOS solution if you can hack your way around linux even a little :-) HTH Mark Ps. We did something similar to the .bash solution below to make ours work, stripped out any desktop manager (such as Gnome or KDE) and away it goes. -----Original Message----- From: Joanne Determann [mailto:joanne.determann@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: 25 October 2004 12:14 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Linux Is anyone successfully using Red Hat desktops and the linux ICA client to connect to MF running on Windows 2000 Server (published desktop)? We have DOS clients now,but need more functionality such as scroll mice and possibly wireless. Thanks,Joane I see an excellent opportunity to sneak Linux into my workplace. -----Original Message----- From: Diego Torres Milano [mailto:diego@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 6:06 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT: Linux > > I'm not using a window maker. You didn't specify what desktop environment you are using, so I will assume that it is GNOME and you re logged in (if this is not the case just let me know). Go to: 1) RedHat main menu (redhat logo) -> Preferences -> More Preferences -> Sessions 2) Sessions -> Startup Programs -> Add -> /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr -icaroot /usr/lib/ICAClient -> Close 3) RedHat main menu (redhat logo) -> Log Out -> Save current setup -> Log out -> OK if everything went well you will see wfcmgr window in you next login. If you are only running RedHat to run the Citrix ICA client you can test PXES Universal Linux Thin Client (http://pxes.sf.net). You can see a running session of PXES here: http://pxes.sourceforge.net/pxes-0.9-movie.html -- Diego Torres Milano <diego@xxxxxxxxxx> IN3 ******************************************************** This Weeks Sponsor RTO Software Do you know which applications are abusing your CPU and memory?
