obviously depends on what you are paying, but for your dollar these days, you should get sound relational database knowledge, I'd expect someone to understand and explain what Normalised data is. explain referential integrity explain indexing explain views talk about triggers code in a SQL language base of some description.. TSQL I think for MS In terms of specific product knowledge, I'd expect them to be able to discuss tablespace admin, transactional logging, rolling-back/forward etc, where do babies come from.. that kind of thing -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Matthew Shrewsbury Sent: 05 April 2005 13:50 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] OT: Interview questions for DBA / Report Writter Off topic but I am going to interview a DBA / Report Writter this morning and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what questions to ask? I'm interested in their ability to create, modify, manage, document, a SQL database and write Crystal reports. As I'm not a DBA any suggestions would be most welcome.
