Upgrade to an AD domain first then Exchange 5.5 to 2000 =20

The AD domain depending on how many controllers you have) shouldn't take =
too
long (may be 1 nite then a week of testing) then upgrade the rest of the =
DCs
the next weekend to include installation of Exchange 2000 server then
migrate mailboxes and public folders the second weekend and test for a =
week
to ensure proper operations. The key to the migrateion is to have a =
solid
roll back plan.

Take a look at the white papers and howto's in technet they help alot

exch 5.5 to a 2000 migration is a big job

same as 5.5 to 2003

2000 to 2003 is easy

if you can get to 2000 on a well known platform and get the benefit of =
=3D
support and reliability=3D20

then tackle the relatively easy upg to 2003 late this year early 2004

Sorry for the off topic, but I need to compile some info to present to =
=3D our
management. I have an exchange 5.5 server running on nt 4.0 server. I =
=3D want
to upgarde and migrate to Exchange 200x on a win2k server. I have about =
=3D 70
mailboxes and some public folder use. The upgrade would also include all =
=3D
new hardware and software, etc. Can anyone give a rough estimate on how =
long
this should take.
