Will he not need to have a second Exchange 2003 server to sit in the DMZ and
host OWA? I thought starting with Exchange 2000 you need to have a frontend
backend solution in place for this method to work. I also believe that you have
to have Exchange 2003 Enterprise.

Why would you want to put exchange in the dmz? If you want external
clients to get at their internal e-mail then place owa in the dmz and pop holes
in the firewall to your exchange server.
