Quick question.

I am watching exmerge back up the mailboxes, but I don't see contacts
being exported?

Along with the server intermittently crashing, I think some of their
Exchange troubles they are having is due to the fact that Active
Directory seems to be severely damaged.

So to bring another server into an already damaged AD and move the
mailboxes and store all that information in AD, I'd just assume export
all the data out and back in to the fresh directory to be safe and not
deal with any of the issues.

Another problem is this is another company's install - so it's hard to
tell what has been done to this machine prior to our coming in.

What's a flubbed exchange environment? Is this a local expression?
If the name stays the same I would go for exmerge, works simple and is =
=3D
=3D3D
safe.
Just abit more work to do maybe afterwards but that's on their =3D3D
bill...better
be safe than sorry.

Exchange Server is same server. Will have same NetBIOS/DNS name.

My only hesitation with doing the move mailbox option is their Exchange
=3D3D
is
currently flubbed, as is their Active Directory.=3D3D3D20

If you setup the exchange servers within the same site, it's pretty easy
=3D3D
to
use the "move mailbox" option from within AD users and =3D3D3D =3D3D
computers.=3D3D3D3D20

Moveing mailboxes this way will also auto update your end users outlook
=3D3D
to
point them to the server where their mailboxes have moved too. Which if
=3D3D
you
have a lot of users can be quite handy. You would need to have both =
=3D3D
systems
online when they startup outlook after their mailbox has been moved for
=3D3D
it
to work properly.=3D3D3D3D20

Exmerge will certainly export and import all mailboxes to *.pst's. =3D3D
However,
you'll have to manually update outlook on the end users stations to =
=3D3D
point to
the new exchange server.=3D3D3D3D20

Do a search on the exchange newsgroup on yahoo. They have pretty =3D3D
detailed
info on how to do it

Hi Ryan,

Did you check information about Exmerge ?
Exmerge can be used to extract mailboxes from a Exchange datastore.. =
=3D3D
Works
simple..

Wondered if anyone knew a good resource to migrate Exchange 2000 (SBS)
Mailboxes from one Exchange 2000 machine to another, or how to export =
=3D
=3D3D
all of
the mailboxes/data and import back in after a full blown =3D3D
format/reinstall of
the Operating System. I can't seem to find anything helpful... and =3D3D
tonight
is going to be a late night!
