[THIN] Re: OT: Exchange 2003 stops generating email addresses for new users

Thank you and everyone for all the tips. This is the first time I've had a
problem with the RUS and the server is about 3 months old. I am running SP1 and
about to upgrade to SP2.

I restarted the server and it now seems to be generating the email addresses as
normal.

I've been through this pain with a client recently.

Restarting the Exchange services, or the server itself will certainly
kickstart the RUS, but you should probably investigate further as to why it
has stalled in the first place, unless this is a one off.

There are some good technet articles that will show you what to enable so
that you can debug the RUS.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822794

Once enabled, you may find a pointer to the issue in the application event
log. One thing to consider is the issue in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=887809.
The symptoms may vary slightly, but essentially you may be finding that the
RUS times out on a dropped LDAP connection. The updated Abv_dg.dll is
included in service pack 2.

There is also an awsome 4 part blog regarding the RUS here...

Cheers.

And make sure you have at least SP1. This resolves all these issues in
our experience

I agree. I would restart all of the Exchange
Services. I have experienced this problem before and
a restart of Microsoft Exchange System Attendant
usually does the trick.
