If it makes it onto his machine, which is a part of your company's network infrastructure, it becomes a risk to the company's assets. Period. That should be enough to stop it. -----Original Message----- From: Jonathan Kadoo [mailto:jkadoo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 4:32 PM To: THIN@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] OT: End User is cheating I have an end user who knows enough to be dangerous and not enough to be smart. Through our internal network we block most traffic to the outside world except http and a couple other services that the end users need. We have a proxy that blocks unwanted sites and blocks downloading of certain types of files, ie. exe, bat, etc. And we also filter incoming emails. Needless to say our users only get what they need and no more. My problem comes in because one of my users has an analog line in his office and what he is doing is dialing up to his isp with his own personal account and downloading email and totally getting around our whole defence system. One would think this is a slam dunk case but the problem is that he is a partner at my firm. So my question is what can I do???? Is there a way to disable his machine from making the connection to his isp while he is connected to our lan? Or any other suggestions would be most helpful. We are using W2k AD. =20 Thanks, =20 Jonathan ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - NetX Inc Thin Clients NetX develops embedded flexible client solutions, customized to your specifications.
