Well, like I said, you could use ADSI Edit to try to modify the name, = but I've never tried that. Was this server a DC? Also, how many DC's are = in that domain? If there are multiple, did you do an Authoritive Restore? = Did you restore the System State data, or just attempted to re-create the = server manually? The recovery steps where.. Made sure the server was running again in the domain with the same sid etc...as before. (install as another name in a workgroup and change it = =3D to regain the still valid dc name on the domain including the sid. Then installed exchange with recovery mode and copy the priv and pub =3D into = the folder again...so far no big deal...done it before. It ran for a day in this new recovered situation before it went down =3D again. MTA service wouldn't start anymore because he couldn't find his = name. somehow the replication brings down there exchange server...no idea =3D why.... Yesterday evening promoted the server to dc again and ran exchange =3D recovery mode as a last attempt te regain access to the mailboxes....mta crashed =3D with the same error...(it installed fine and after te reboot = all services =3D where started, only when I attempted the mount the = mailboxes the mmc hung.) So =3D I installed ex sp3 for the obvious reasons but after = that no way the mat =3D would start anymore. Today my collega is gone install a new server in a new domain with a =3D = fresh exchange server on it to make sure the mail is coming is tommorow....the rest is to be recovered when possible and when we can find time. It's been one hell of a week, two power outages at the office, a =3D = complete domain down because of a system controller restarting the server instead = =3D of his own workstation, one domain unreachable by power loss on a switch = =3D and this..........some weeks you wiss you were on holiday. Thanks for you reply..... If you know any way how to change the first organization name, we made a = =3D new server but made a typo with the name....murphy was in the house = that's =3D for sure Greetings Rob -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Namens Chris Lynch Verzonden: zaterdag 8 februari 2003 23:47 Aan: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Onderwerp: [THIN] Re: OT: EX2K first organization name What were the steps you took to recover, and what happened that brought = =3D =3D3D your production system down?
