How long do you want to retain backups on the NAS? Do you have a
preference for full/differential/incremental? Are you backing up SQL
databases? Do you want virtual tape emulation? Do you want iSCSI?

I still recommend disk to disk to tape for most environments. What about
archiving? What are you out if you lose all data on your NAS?

There is a lot to figure out in a backup strategy. Just some stuff to
think about!

we want to backup about 15gb every night. all windows servers. we
don't want to ever rotate tapes, that is why I am asking about a disk
based backup system as opposed to tape.

How much data do you need to backup? What type of servers? How
frequently do you want to have to rotate tapes? I know of some small
companies who generate more backup volume then medium sized ones.

Hello,

Anybody know of any good disk-based backup systems for a small company
(5 Windows Servers) Ideally I would like to keep it under $5k.

Thanks!
