Tesla (not the rock band) had this idea about the same time Edison had his
idea to set up an electric company. Tesla wanted to sell the collector
device and give away electricity. Edison wanted to sell the electricity and
have the company own the devices over which electricity traveled. The
device Tesla had is those big unit the current runs between in the old
Frankenstein movies. If you happened to walk between the two, you would be
electrocuted.

Hrmmm... Learn something new every day, I guess.. LOL I've got
about a dozen different PDUs here from APC and Best, and none of them have
that feature... ??
I can definitely see where this would be handy in certain situations, but,
the fact remains that with only a single power supply, you still have a
single point of failure, no matter the number of UPS's that are feeding it
(not that this "Y cable" would solve the problem, either...).
