You *CAN* query this, how else would DNS know what zones it was
authoritative for??? Sheesh....

And you can show them all at once.

If you type (at an interactive nslookup prompt): ls -t ns <your root DNS
domain>

It will identify all the zones and respective nameservers in your domain
and below, which will therefore tell you what zones / domains you have
in your zone / domain and downwards.

The original question *did* have a DNS zone in mind - *read* what was
asked. If you didn't have a zone in mind, it would be a pointless
proposition.

It does bear note, that this info could be probably extracted by ADSI,
too, and other interfaces (eg JNDI) that you could script / code into
your DNS database.
