Hi Kev,

I've got a customer using Omnipage and network twain so that they can
OCR documents strainght in from their IPI-141 and Fiery interface Konica
MFDs (MF XP3, win2k/win2k3). Had to set kernel flags on apps using
network twain so they wouldn't go looking in %windir% for the twain
drivers (use cmptman), and use threadmaster to stop omnipage from
getting too CPU hungry.

This works fine for smaller documents but every time they OCRd a 40+
page document the CPU hit was pretty bad.

It'll work, but unless you're forced to do it, I prefer to keep OCR on
adedicated workstation.

Regards,

Rick

Subject: [THIN] OCR software on XP FR3/W2K3

Hi All

Is anyone currently using any OCR software on something similar to my
setup here. We have a number of Canon network attached scanners which
work well with not too much CPU/bandwidth overhead, and office 2003. The
users now want an OCR upgrade.

The obvious options are Ominpage or Textbridge?

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks

Kev
