Hi Shane,

Outlook will spawn multiple instances of the executable in a couple of common
scenarios, where the send to email recipient: functionality inside another app
is being used, and where you have flakey outlook add-ins. Also check out
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.htm for reasons for outlook.exe not
closing.

Try running outlook in safe mode (outlook /safe, no addins) to see if that
resolves the issue.

regards,

Rick

Subject: [THIN] Multiple Outlook Processes..

Hi All - has anyone seen a problem with Outlook 2000 running on Win2k SP4
(all lastest hotfixes + office hotfixes applied) - Presentation Server 4 -
whereby multiple outlook processes will launch by themselves. User opens
outlook and only one outlook.exe running - then during the course of the
day, other outlook processes will initiate, and result in additional
envelope icons in systray. The user is not closing and re-opening outlook
- they just appear of their own accord. At various stages, Outlook will
then hang, and all processes need to be killed and app restarted. Outlook
profile has been recreated in the past but problem persists. It is only
intermittent - user has a few PST files attached to profile, but nothing
else unusual. Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers,
