nice. That would have been handy back when I changed to roaming. Luckily, we don't have thousands of users. Greg, Re: your "biggest pain" Try out Dameware from www.dameware.com You can use the Dameware NT Utility and change the TS Profile path for = =3D every user in your company in under 5 minutes. If you or anyone out there hasn't seen\used this tool before, it's =3D great. The demo is a full blown version and the cost per license is =3D approx $100 each depending on your quantity ordered. =3D20 _____ =3D20 =3D20 Brian Claus, A+, Network+, MCP Network Administrator WESCO Distribution, Inc. 225 West Station Square Drive, Suite 700 Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1122 Phone: 412-454-2412 Fax: 412-454-2540 bclaus@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:bclaus@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>=3D20 _____ =3D20 -----Original Message----- From: Greg Reese [mailto:GReese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 8:53 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Moving to Roaming Profiles.... we use group policy to direct my docs and stuff and it works great. I = =3D =3D3D tweaked the registry to redirect Temp internet files. What I recommend doing is create a test user and log in to create a = =3D3D local profile. Then use the profiles tab in system properties to copy = =3D =3D3D it to your roaming profile directory. When doing that, you have the = =3D3D option to change the permissions to give everyone access. Set that user to use that profile and log in as that user and make all = =3D =3D3D your changes, registry tweaks, application settings etc, etc. Then log = =3D =3D3D out and use that dat file for all your other users to start with. We run mandatory profiles by group so whenever I need to make a settings = =3D =3D3D change, I log in as my test user, make the change, then redistribute the = =3D =3D3D dat file. changing the profile path for all of your users is the biggest pain. Hi all, I am finally moving from a 1 server Citrix farm running XPs, to a 2 =3D =3D3D3D server farm running XPa. At the moment the profiles are stored locally = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D on the citrix server so I am now investigating roaming profiles as I =3D =3D3D3D have never used them before and clearly have to go down this route. I have got it working for a number of test users, but I would welcome = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D some feedback, got ya's and best practices from you guys about using =3D =3D3D3D them in the Citrix environment. I have concerns about the profiles getting too big, and have already =3D =3D3D3D looked at redirecting My Documents and the Desktop Folder from their =3D =3D3D3D profile. I would also would like some feedback on what you have done = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D with temporary internet files.
