Speaking of IE, W2k3 stores the IE configurations (when enhanced is enabled)
in a different registry location than W2k.

In theory, yes.

In practice, it depends.

Since my last message I've recalled that roaming between NT4 and 2k in
particular would cause problems with Outlook e-mail passwords (not because
of version differences, but because of 2k's crappy Protected Storage
service).

I also saw issues with IE's autocomplete. If it was enabled and a user
logged in to 2k and then went back to NT4 then IE on NT4 would hang whenever
it tried to access the Auto Complete info that IE on 2k had saved (such as a
username).

As someone else pointed out, it all depends on your environment.

Test, test, test.

Interesting, if all the apps are the same on each server you think the OS
can be different and it will still work?

Thanks for the info!

We were roaming between NT4, 2k, and 2k3 at one time with minimal issues.

The biggest issues that we did encounter were mainly application oriented.
For example, if a NT4 user who had an OL 98 config opened OL2k3 on a W2k3
server then if the logged back into a NT4 TS then OL98 wouldn't work right
anymore because of changes that OL2k3 made.

I have not been able to find a document explaining if any the problems that
can occur when mixing TS profiles with different OSes. For example if a user
has a TS roaming profile and logs into both a W2K and W2K3 server will the
profile be corrupted or cause problems?
