I took a risk installed SP3. However, I can not tell if it just installed SP3 or also installed FR3. I clicked on SP3, but the install wizard said FR3. Now my splashscreen is different. One thing I notice is that my login time is now cut down by half. I use to cringe everytime I logged in because we occassionally get these "hangs" at login. When this occurs, users already logged in experience no problems. Just no one else can login (even at the console). I would normally have to wait 10-15 seconds before I get my login script. I'm always a little tense until that point. Now, I get my login script within 5 seconds. the reason I installed SP3 is that I cannot run the CMC either from the console or from an ICA session. I'm also getting a wierd problem in my SNA 3270 applet (the one included with MS SNA Server). When in an ICA session, there is no cursor when using the applet. From the console, it works fine. I was hoping Citrix SP3 would fix those problems. No dice. adam "Mack, Rick" <RMack@xxxxxxxxxx To: "'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx'" <thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> m.au> cc: Sent by: Subject: [THIN] Re: Migration to FR3 thin-bounce@freel ists.org 08/15/2003 04:59 PM Please respond to thin Hi Adam, I'll probably get flamed for this, but considering FR3 on win2k and Server 2003, it seems to me that the 2003 version is just a bit better. Almost seems like the 2003 had all the work done on it and the win2k version almost caught up. My recommendation to customers is that 2003/FR3 is pretty good, win2K/FR3 not quite as good. The migration to win2k/FR3 right now should be for a good reason. If you have to have the improved UPD, much slicker IMA communications, and are willing to roll out the version 7 ICA client to get benefit from the greatly improved IE performance, upgrading is the way to go. Otherwise, I'd suggest you fulfill subscription advantage to FR3 to get your FR3 licenses, and wait a few more weeks to minimise your pain. Given all that everyone has learned about FR3 (feautres, problems, etc), is there any reason not to migrate FR3? adam "David Finch" <david.finch@optus To: <thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> net.com.au> cc: Sent by: Subject: [THIN] Migration to FR3 thin-bounce@freeli sts.org 08/15/2003 07:19 AM Please respond to thin We are running on XP FR1 and decided it's about time we upgraded. Is there any official (or unofficial) documentation on migrating to FR3 within a farm i.e. Best Practise etc?
