This is really not necessary anymore. It is possible to run the LS (2000 or
2003) on a member server. You will need to configure the license service
with the -nodc option and point set the defaultlicenseserver key on the
Terminal servers.

Actually, I believe the Win2k license server will complain that the
license service should be a Domain controller because it is in an AD
domain. It will then stop handing out licenses. That's been my
experience before.

Short answer no. You can if you want to. If you upgrade TS servers to
203 at a later time, there will need to be a licensing server on a 2003
machine.

Subject: [THIN] Migrating to Active Directory

Hi gang,

We will be migrating our W2K Server Citrix MetaFrame XPe FR3 farm to a
W2K3 Active Directory structure. Currently our TS license server is on
one of our W2K Terminal Servers in our farm.

When we migrate our farm to it's own Citrix Server Farm OU and we are
not upgrading out W2K TS servers to W2K3, do we need to move the TS
License server to either a W2K3 Domain Controller or a W2k3 TS server?

Thank You.

Jay
