Dave,
you could always download the LOST project from www.wizbang.org.uk and use the
script support functions it provides. If you do take a look, please email me
and I'll send you the script I use here (incl. a couple of supporting command
line tools).
You can the script to your hearts content, it's real simple stuff but effective.
