Thanks for the suggestion! As we are a small shop I really don't want to migrate to SQL datastore. Access is working fine for us except that in this case installing MSDE broke the connection to the access datastore. The main reason for not going to SQL is I don't really want to depend on the SQL server for everything. If the SQL server is down at the moment people can still go ahead and keep working in Word, Excel and Outlook. If we migrate the datastore to the SQL server and it goes offline we are totally dead in the water. I was able to resolve my problem by doing a chfarm. I'm getting ready to install MSDE on the datastore server today and if I have the same problem does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix? I won't be able to do a chfarm as the datastore will be down. I will do a backup of the datastore first of course. Hi Matthew, There are a number of possibilities but the quickest thing you can do is run chfarm to reconnect. I'd also advise changing from using an access datastore to connecting to MSDE hosted on another system (file/print/DC). Use Benny's instructions to get MSDE going for you and then use dsmaint migrate to copy the datastore to MSDE. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Matthew Shrewsbury Sent: Thu 9/02/2006 3:42 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: MSDE 2000 A breaks PS4? No I was using Access as my datastore. This is the second server in the farm so the server with the access datastore is still running just fine.
