Subject: [THIN] MPS 3.0 Issues

Hello everyone.

I recently upgraded my first production MF XPa FR3 ZDC to MPS 3.0 with
MPSE300W2K3R01. I've had it running in a test environment for some time and
didn't notice any problems with it. I am very pleased with the new version
in terms of the performance improvements, but there are a few serious issues
that cropped up on our production server that are making me question its
stability.

First, since upgrading the ZDC, ImaSrv.exe will terminate unexpectedly when
someone authenticates from our CSG server (CSG 2.0, WI 3.0) in order to
enumerate the published applications. The MPS 3.0 ZDC is first in the list
of MetaFrame servers in the WI configuration. The error that is recorded in
the App Log is:

"Faulting application ImaSrv.exe, version 2.4.27176.0, faulting module
ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x00003847."

After the error occurs the IMAService is still running, but no new logons
are passed to the server through published applications and direct logons to
the server (ICA and RDP) hang after credentials are submitted. Scheduled
tasks also do not run. Once the IMAService is stopped and restarted
everything is back to normal. For now I have dropped the MPS 3.0 ZDC to the
bottom of the list of MetaFrame servers in the WI config.

http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=321814&fromSearchPage
=true&#321814 indicates that MPSE300W2K3R02 may resolve my problem, but I
tried it and it ended up making things worse:

With R02, I experience the blue screen issue described in
http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=62&threadID=59953&start
=0&tstart=0, and the shadowing issue described in
http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=62&threadID=59061&tstar
t=0.

Despite what Citrix says, I can not disable shadow logging on this server
because that option is greyed out for me. I also do not wish to reinstall
MetaFrame. And even if I could get shadowing to work, there's still the
issue of the Random blue screens, so for now I chose the lesser of two evils
and downgraded to MPSE300W2K3R01.

I'm going to call Citrix to see what they have to say about this, but I also
wanted to see if anyone on this list is experiencing these issues, and if
so, what have you done to address them?

Thanks,
Jay
