What about the clustering / failover support? Supposedly Win2kS does not support it, but AS does.... Just curious... -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Angus Macdonald Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 3:14 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Linux based thin client software... Don't use W2K AS for thin client - it offers no benefit over W2KS. Assuming you're looking at a single server I'd spec something like a Dual P3/1000 with 2GB or RAM and a couple of smallish hard drives mirrored. The memory is the most important thing with a thin client server. -----Original Message----- From: MadProfessor [mailto:madprofessor@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 13 February 2003 08:01 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Linux based thin client software... Has anyone had much luck attempting to use Linux thin clients? What were the advantages and pitfalls you've come across? The company I work for is having me look into them, and I've tried PXES, but I'm looking for other alternatives.... Additionally, what would you say would be a good jumping point (approximation of course) for your basic Office + other data entry setup? In other words, what kind of processing power & RAM would be needed for your basic office of about 20-30 users? Is Win2K Server allright, or do you suggest going with Advanced server for the terminal services server? Thanks for any help available!
