We accomplished this through a roundabout way. Our sole NT4 TS was across the wan from our farm and we didn't want the profiles to download across the T1. We set the "detect slow wan link" setting to either 0 or 1 seconds, and the server couldn't pull the profile down fast enough, and bypassed it. =20 Another workaround solution is to use a variable in the TS Profile Path field for each user i.e. %profilepath%\%username%. Set a global environment variable on each terminal server for profile path as follows: NT4 Server - \\server\profiles$\nt4=20 2000 Server - \\server\profiles$\W2K This allows you to have a different roaming profile for each OS. It is a little clumsy, but we used it during our migration to 2000, and it worked well for us. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Lee [mailto:marklee15@xxxxxxxxx]=20 Posted At: Thursday, February 06, 2003 11:57 AM Posted To: TheThin Conversation: [THIN] Re: Limit Roaming profiles on a specific server? Subject: [THIN] Re: Limit Roaming profiles on a specific server? Jim, =20 the only way known currently (AFAIK) is to replace the system's GINA - this is the place where the profile is loaded !!! I don't beleive there is a magic off button but a replacement GINA can be written easily to stop the profile being loaded. Depends how desperate the issue is ! =20 Mark =20 "Coons,Jim" <JCOONS@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Is there a way to set up roaming profiles for explicit users on one server and disable roaming profiles for those same explicit user accounts on another server? We have a scenario where we implement our applications on separate servers from Office on other applications that require a roaming profile. We would like the ability to use explicit published applications on our application servers, but not pull the roaming profile down every time. We've suggested to clients to use anonymous apps on our application servers, but they don't like not being able to identify the user logged in via the CMC. I wish Microsoft would just add this functionality. Let me know if there is any "script magic" that can do this? Has anybody mixed NT 4.0 TSE and 2000 in an XPe farm? Are there any issues to be concerned with? I would assume that the servers could only have FR1 active but could be on the latest service pack. Is that a good assumption?
