I was questioning Citrix licensing...Not worried about MS TS-Cals...have
tons of em.

Just did a quick test and yes, you're right...Logged in as same user on
2 different PC's and launched the same app and it took 2
licenses....Just misread what Citrix was saying I guess.

Thanks Jim,

What licensing are you asking about here Brian, Citrix or MS TS cal
licensing?

Win2k Tscals are closer in association to machines . . Then to end
users. So . .5 machines log into the TS server . . Each one requires a
valid TS cal. If they are all win2kpro / winXPpro workstations . . they
of course have the MS TS cal for Win2k TS built in.

Bill is correct in his assesment of Citrix licenses. Citrix licensing is
con-current, not tied to user accounts or machine accounts. Citrix
con-current licensing is tied to the amount of simultaneous sessions on
a farm at any point in time. IE - you have 20 Citrix licenses . . You
can have 20 con-current sessions logged into your farm, regardless of
the fact that they are all using the same user account.

I thought it was 5 licenses if they were on at the same time.....5
concurrent.

Running XPe on Win2k.

Hypothetical Question:

I have 5 users at 5 different physical locations.

Each user logs into Citrix as username: TEST and runs the same app.
(what
if it's a different app \ different server?)

Will this take 1 license or 5 licenses?

I'm thinking that it will consume only 1 license no matter what app they
launch or what server they are on--as long as they log in with the same
username.

Everything that I can find on this supports this thought..can I get
anyone
to second that?
