Products: Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix
MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation
Server 3.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server
3.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003

Symptoms

When a users changes the file content on local device, the changes are not
immediately reflected via the GUI.

Reproduction Steps:

1. Connect directory to MetaFrame server desktop.

2. Open the mapped client drive in ICA session. (e.g. C$ on ?Client? (V:))

3. Open an existing text file on the mapped client drive with notepad.exe in
a local device and change the content, then save it (e.g. change and save
?test.txt? on the local C drive).

4. Open the same text file saved ?Step 3? in ICA session immediately.

5. The change of the text file is not reflected tin ICA session.

Cause

The caching mechanism of MetaFrame server drive mapping, CDM.sys, is set to
60 sec. Therefore, there is a time delay for the file change occurs in ICA
session.

Resolution

Change following registry keys. The time out value for the caching is in
seconds. The value can be set ?0 sec? to disable the caching function of
CDM.sys. Setting the value to ?0? may impact system performance.

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
can require you to reinstall the operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee
that problems resulting from incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.
Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Make sure you back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running
Windows NT, make sure you also update your Emergency Repair Disk.
