You may find that ICA and Terminal Server sessions hang for a period of time and then return to normal. During this period, the session will not accept keyboard input. One possible reason for this may be the servers? RAID controller configuration. Background Some hardware models have an integrated raid controller. The controller acceleration ratio is frequently set to 100% READ. You can verify this by using your hardware vendors? RAID array configuration utilities. Frequently integrated RAID controllers do not allow you to change the acceleration ratio. To verify that you are experiencing this particular issue, use Performance Monitor to change the proportions of the graph to aid in monitoring. 1. Open Performance Monitor on the server console while users are connected. 2. Click the plus ( + ) button at the top of the graph area. 3. From the Processor Performance object, select '%Processor Time. 4. From the Physical Disk Performance object, select Add '%Disk Time. 5. Right-click anywhere in the graph area, select Properties, then the Graph tab. Change the Vertical scale maximum to 1000 and the minimum to 300. Large disk spikes will occur if the Terminal Server sessions are experiencing the problem. Conclusion If you are experiencing this issue, change the acceleration ratio to a read-write ratio of 50:50. If you have an integrated RAID controller and the ratio cannot be changed, check with your hardware vendor to ascertain if there is an add-on that will allow you to do so. ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - Emergent Online 99Point9.com EOL THINssentials?
